Andes Madventure

East Africa Summer Special

West Africa Mad to Timbuktu

Andes Madventure
A fantastic 21 day adventure that begins following in the footsteps of the Incas on the trail to Machu Picchu before winding its way through the south of Peru and heading up the coast to the mighty mountain range of the Cordillera Blanca and the stunningly situated town of Huaraz.

Along the way we will take in pretty much every form of transport available as we aim to make our destination. Using a variety of planes, sandboards, boats, hiking boots and buses we pass through a incredible range of landscapes, activities and cultures. From hiking the world renowned Inca Trail to the majestic Machu Picchu to staying with indigenous families on Lake Titicaca and dancing the night away. Spending time in the city of Arequipa with its rich colonial history and architecture, soaring over the intriguing Nazca Lines; sandboarding our way down the dunes of Huacachina to visiting the ‘poor man’s Galapagos’ south of Lima; and finishing by trekking beneath the spectacular white peaks of the Cordillera Blanca in the north of Peru.
This trip will give you a unique opportunity to experience the authentic Latin American lifestyle of this amazing country.

East Africa Summer Special
This amazing trip takes you on a remarkable journey through some of East Africa’s best game parks and most stunning landscapes. In the beautiful Great Rift Valley you visit Lakes Naivasha and Nakuru, with their many varieties of birdlife and hippos. You can take a walking safari through Crescent Island or cycle through Hell’s Gate National Park, where the volcanic scenery is home to giraffes, zebra and gazelle. At Nanyuki there is an option to challenge yourself to trek Africa’s second highest mountain, Mt Kenya, or else travel up to Samburu National Reserve via Sweetwaters, home to the Samburu people in their traditional dress and colourful beads.

We visit the Maasai Mara, one of Africa’s best game parks, where great plains dotted with acacia trees are home to giraffes, zebra, gazelle, buffalo and wildebeest, lions and leopards. July and August is the time when wildebeest, in their hundreds of thousands, begin a long streaming journey north from the Serengeti to the Maasai Mara, which, if we are lucky enough to witness this migration, you’ll be taking part in one of nature’s most awe inspiring experiences.

To finish the adventure we head to the Indian Ocean and Tiwi Beach, a quiet palm fringed beach with long stretches of golden sands and off shore coral reef. Here you can relax to the sound of lapping waves, snorkel among the tropical fish, and feast on seafood. Your last days by the coast are the chance to relax and enjoy and digest your time in Africa!

West Africa Mad to Timbuktu
An incredible adventure
The route takes you from the game reserves of Ghana to the slave-trade forts of the coast and north to the ancient city of Timbuktu on the fringes of the great Sahara dessert….An amazing adventure to give you memories to last a lifetime. Travelling 21 days through 3 African countries; Ghana, Burkina Faso and Mali to experience their richness and diversity. The landscape and pace of the adventure varies; trapeze high above a green canopy in the jungle, trek over vast cliffs and into magical villages in the Dogon country, sleep at night on mud-roofs underneath the stars and wake to peek down over mud-made towns – as though going back a thousand years – watching the docile donkeys and the elegant & vibrantly dressed women in Djenne. You can barter for brightly coloured cloth by speaking French in the local markets in Bobo, or have a drumming lesson on the stunning beaches of the Cape Coast. The road to Timbuktu is long and dusty red and is well worth the distance for the Camel ride into the Sahel desert to see the stars shining bright into the night’s sky.
